My Studio A at Trimordial Studio
Las Vegas where I do audio recording, mixing, and mastering. You can
see Alex Oliver's creative Studio B in the center background with his
88-key Yamaha digital grand piano/synth, and his guitars and my basses.
Together we are Poppermost pop rock band, and TriPops Music Production
service working with outside musicians and singers. We're now based in
central Las Vegas in the distinguished, serene, and charming John S.
Park Historic District, near the Arts District, between downtown Vegas
and the Strip. Just to the right of B, on my antique curved glass mic "locker," is my authentic retro lava lamp. To the left of B, above my reel-to-reel, is a watercolor-looking Stevie Nicks poster that I got when I worked at a Minnesota record store in the '80s. In the lower far left is a magazine cover with friend and studio client, Vegas/NYC classical crossover vocalist and model Rane Rose. At the far right is a calendar from friend and UK singer songwriter Gemma-Louise Doyle. Both of these are right below 2 of my oil paintings. |
My
Trimordial Studio Las Vegas "mic locker" is actually an antique curved
glass cabinet that I got from my mom many years ago. (I haven't
broken it yet through many moves!) While my mic collection is not extensive, the top shelf holds some mic history. Starting with 3 mics on the left and in front that I got from my dad. 1) An original Shure 55S Unidyne classic "Elvis" mic of '50s-'60s vintage that my band Poppermost has used a bit in some live performances about 15 years ago. 2) A "carbon button" SW-109 communications mic that my dad got out of a crashed B-24 Liberator airplane in 1943 during WWII while he was stationed in Nome, Alaska as a radio operator. 3) An American D4T "salt shaker" mic of '40s vintage. I got it while I was in high school and it didn't work, so I replaced its mic capsule with another one from an old not-so-cool mic, and I used it in my high school bands. Next, in the back left, is an Electro-Voice 667A classic broadcast studio mic of '60s-'70s vintage that I got back in Minnesota from the wife of an audio engineer friend after he died. In the back middle, under the sign, is a Shure M68FC classic 5-channel mic mixer of '70s-'80s vintage. |
